Spring Fling Retreat

Backroads Plum Crazy

Dear Blog,

April 8, 9, and 10th 2011: the Spring Fling Retreat is on it's way!  Our annual Spring Fling Retreat  is a long weekend of inspiration and relaxation held at the Dairy  Barn B&B!  E-mail us or call (641)456-6305 for more information and to reserve your space!

The base retreat is $175 per person, which includes make 'n takes, your room, meals, personal crop space, access to all of the shop's tools, a 20% discount on any purchases you make ALL WEEKEND, and an oh so fabulous gift bag of goodies in your room.

Classes are separate so you can take as many as you like or take none and have some serious fun just cropping.

Registration will be accepted as received.  We are limited to 16 people for the full retreat, and smaller limits on the classes- so get your registration in as quick as possible.

Never been to a retreat?  Click Here to find out what to expect :-)

Every year we have two workshop classes are taught exclusively at the Spring Fling Retreat.  These workshops cover what we consider some of our best projects.  Projects are designed to be easy enough for a beginner, but awesome enough to make the heart of the hardest core altered artist race a little faster at all the possibilities.

The Spring 2011 workshops are:

What Exactly Goes on at the Spring Fling Retreat?

We've had a few questions of what exactly happens at one of our retreats.
Well, a lot of fun, for one!  But besides that you can click below for a rough run down of what we do at a retreat.   Give us a call at 641-456-6305 if you'd like more information and we'll gush our excitement, and share a few testimonials :-)

Workshop #2: Nature Walk Letterpress Box
2:00 PM  Saturday April 9th, 2011   $45

Feather your nest with a pretty box filled with treasures gathered from your fondest memories and places.  This is a nice deep letterpress tray that can hold lots of goodies.  Weather permitting, we'll go on a nature walk to gather items for your box or in case of April showers we'll go visit our favorite local antique store for vintage treats to embellish with.  Two themes to choose from: Empress or Dollface

Empress Letterpress Box
inspired by the old camel back trunk that was full of attic treasures you found one rainy spring day.

Dollface Letterpress Box
inspired by the cheery kitchen where you dyed easter eggs as a little tike.

What Exactly Goes on at the Retreats?

We've had a few questions of what exactly happens at one of our retreats.   Well, a lot of fun, for one!  But besides that is a rough run down of what we do at a retreat.   Give us a call at 641-456-6305 if you'd like more information and we'll gush our excitement, and share a few testimonials :-)

What to Expect
When you attend one of our retreats

Before you come: Give us a call at 641-456-6305 or come by the shop to register.

First thing Friday:  Come on in the barn and say Hi!

Donya and Michelle will be on hand to help you get settled from about 2 PM on :-)  Then we'll show you what room you'll be staying in.  Your name will be on the door of your room for easy reference if you get lost (hehe)  The Dairy Barn has 8 guest rooms, each with a private bathroom.  If you are sharing a room- let us know your room mate preference and we'll make sure you and your slumber party pal are in the same room.  Most rooms have one queen size bed in them, except Ferdinand (1 bunk bed, 1 queen) and Rosie (1 fold out single, 1 queen)  For an additional fee, the B&B will put a fold out bed in another room.

There will be a goodie bag for you in your room.  After you've put your suitcase in your room and finished tearing through your goodie bag like a kid on Christmas Morning, you'll come downstairs, check out the available tools, and survey the tables for the perfect work spot.  Spread your stuff out and get comfy!  This will be your very own spot for the whole weekend.

The first night everybody gets set up and works on their own projects until supper at 6 PM.   After supper, we have show and tell.  Everyone brings out something they've made to show, we tell a few jokes, and we give away a few door prizes.  There's no curfew, stay up as late as you like working on your projects.

Saturday:

Saturday Morning at 7 am we have coffee, muffins, an Early Bird Make 'n Take for early risers.  At 9 AM we have breakfast and then break off into two groups.  One group heads off to their spots for some more paper fun and the other group heads off upstairs for the optional morning class.  A shuttle van will go down to the shop for a supply run for those running low on glue and sundries.  12 PM we'll break for leisurely lunch.

Saturday Afternoon we'll break up into two groups again for the afternoon workshop and scrap time.  Snacks will be available underneath the stairs for a mid afternoon stretch.  Hopefully the weather will be nice and we can take a walk in the countryside of a have a cup of tea on the patio.  Another shuttle van will go down to the shop for a supply run for those running low on glue and sundries.  When it returns those interested in taking a field trip will head off to the Schoolhouse Antique Shop just up the road for vintage treasures to enhance their projects.

Saturday Night we'll have supper at 6 PM and open crop.  At 9 PM we'll have a coffee, cookies, and a Night Owl Make 'n Take.

Sunday:

Sunday Morning we'll have Brunch all day so you can get up as early or late as you like.  Open Crop until check out at 3 PM.
